Charmaine Cowdrey

Clinical Psychologist Registrar

Therapy that meets you where you are.

About me

I’m a Clinical Psychologist Registrar who works with both adolescents and adults, providing support for a wide range of psychological concerns. I hold a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and a Master of Clinical Psychology, and I have experience across hospital and private practice settings.

I work with people experiencing all kinds of life challenges from anxiety, low mood, and stress, to grief, self-esteem, and relationship struggles. I also support people during the perinatal period, a time that can bring big emotional changes. While these are common areas of focus, I welcome anyone looking for a space to slow down, make sense of things, and find a way forward with a bit more clarity and self-kindness.

I draw on a variety of evidence based approaches, including psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioural techniques, narrative therapy, somatic approaches, and trauma informed care. I tailor my approach to each person’s needs and goals.

My approach

My approach to therapy is down to earth, collaborative, and shaped around you. I aim to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and able to explore things at your own pace. I’m genuinely curious about your story - how your experiences, strengths, and ways of relating have shaped who you are today.

Therapy with me is a shared process of reflection, insight, and gentle change. Together, we can explore experiences, notice patterns, and consider ways of responding that might feel easier for you. My hope is that you leave therapy feeling understood, supported, and perhaps a little more like yourself.

Starting therapy can feel new or even a bit uncomfortable, and that’s completely okay. I aim to make each step of the process welcoming, safe, and a little human. Sessions are typically 50 minutes long, and how often we meet can be adjusted to suit your needs.
